Description: The Dorset County Orchestra welcome back Guest Conductor Martin Henderson and Piano Soloist Duncan Honeybourne for their Spring Concert at Wimborne Minster on Saturday 18th March 2017 at 7.30pm. The programme features two of the great romantic era compositions: Brahms Second Piano Concerto, a gargantuan work at nearly fifty minutes in duration. It has four movements and everything about it — the structure, the texture, the way the piano is integrated into the orchestral fabric is very symphonic. Dvorak's 7th Symphony, also known as his London Symphony. This symphony was premiered in London’s St. James’s Hall on 22 April 1885, hence the title, but is perhaps one of his most nationalistic works, packed with references to his Czech homeland and full of Slavonic melodies. Duncan Honeybourne the soloist, enjoys a colourful and unique career as solo pianist, chamber musician, educator and artistic director. He has appeared at many major concert halls and at leading festivals, and has been a frequent broadcaster at home and abroad.
